Hello from Sugarberry Court!

We are all doing well but definitely staying busy.

Just to catch you up on the past few days...

Our "rooming in" night at the hospital went well. The nurses checked with us several times during the night. Abigail and Ansley tried to break us in by not sleeping that night. They had just had their 2 month shots and weren't feeling very well. They probably also had trouble sleeping without all of the noise that they were used to from the NICU (nurses, alarms from monitors, visitors, etc). They had visits from Grandaddy, Nana, Aunts Jennifer and Sarah, and Uncle Matthew and even Rebekah, Kingston, Emery, and Jeramy. Our sweet nurse Jamie was also sure to tell us good bye...the first of many bitter-sweet good byes to all of those that we had gotten to know so well at the hospital. And we slept at the hospital...for the last time!

Thursday morning started with a sponge bath for the girls and their first photo shoot. We tried everything to get them to open their eyes and to show off their sweet blue eyes...no luck. Their pictures just look like little sleeping angels. We then had to head back to the NICU for the girls' final assessment by Dr. Hassell. We received a few special instructions and then the four of us walked through the NICU doors...for the last time!!! We had many nurses come by to say farewell...Rhonda, Lauren, Myra, Angela, and Nicki. We feel like we were leaving part of extended family behind. We told Jane good bye as we headed onto the elevators from the 7th floor...for the last time! We then carried the girls out the doors of Centennial Women's hospital...for the first time! The both squinted as they were introduced to the Lord's beautiful sunshine! We then loaded them into the Tahoe (with tons of needed help from the family) and were on our way to Sugarberry Court. We did have to make our first trip through the McDonald's drive thru on the way home. Eric couldn't make it without a sweet tea! :)

When we arrived at home, we were surprised to see the house decorated with beautiful pink balloons, ribbons, and a sign welcoming Abigail and Ansley home. (A special thanks to the Pharr ladies!). Our mailbox was also decorated with beautiful yellow ribbons, bows, and welcome home notes from the Greens. We then unloaded and took the girls into our house...for the first time!!!! We then got to change the first dirty diapers, put them down for their first naps, and give them their first bottles...all for the first time...at home! We then enjoyed visits from the Mitchell and Connelly clans and help from Nana that night.

The first night was fairly easy. The girls were patient as we tried to figure out what we were doing. The girls even enjoyed their first baths at home with the help of Nana. We were sad to miss Aunt Sarah's graduation from Vanderbilt, but we thought Abigail and Ansley might not appreciate another road trip and the hot weather for a little while longer. Grammy and Peepaw made it in from Arkansas for a weekend visit. And we even had another good night.

Saturday was not too exciting...just eating, sleeping, and diaper changing. The girls' Aunt Lisa and cousin Jordan got to have a visit with Abigail and Ansley. We always hear that the third time is a charm, right? Well, it was. Ansley decided to let us know what her cry sounded like all night long. It's a wonder she didn't keep Abigail up too! As of now, we have gotten them back on their four hour schedule that they were used to at the hospital. For now, we will also cross our fingers that tonight will be like those first and second nights that we had at home! :)
